BJ Sanders Receives
2024 Jacoby Award
By Jerry Harrington
Awards Committee Chair

This year’s Jacoby Award was presented to BJ Sanders of Austin. BJ received the award on Saturday of the Dallas Regional from Jack LaVigne, District 16 President. It is the District 16 Premier Service Award.
The Oswald and James Jacoby Service Award, established in 1982, is designed to honor those volunteers who have worked diligently at the unit level and risen to recognition at the district level after many years of outstanding service to bridge.
Nominated by her Austin Unit 207, BJ served as Representative to the D16 Board of Directors from years 2019 to 2023. She was named Chair of the 2021 Austin NABC, the first national tournament held after COVID lockdowns. Deftly navigating ACBL’s COVID rules, she organized a team of volunteers to pull off a nearly flawless tournament. Currently, BJ serves as Executive Secretary of the D16 Board of Directors, a position she manages with the same dedication and talent as in her other roles.
Congratulations, BJ on this well deserved recognition!
